When I embarked on this quest to become a runner, I knew nothing, N-O-T-H-I-N-G about proper running gear. I went to Kohl’s and bought a pretty pair of running sneakers, went to Target and bought two pairs of athletic shorts and a package of athletic socks and off I went on my Couch to 5K program. Turns out right off the bat, I made some grave errors. Granted, it didn’t impact me much in those first few weeks, but oh the things I’ve learned!
Four years later of intermittent running, several 5K races and about 6 months of dedicated, consistent and targeted half-marathon training later, I’ve become somewhat enlightened with regard to the essentials of running for women.
